Fall 2021 ORC: Week 3 and 4- The Wallpaper

Home

Over the last two weeks of the One Room Challenge, I installed Livette’s Wallpaper on 2 walls. One wall in the main area of the playroom, and the other in the closet. I love using Livette’s wallpaper! It is such great quality and they have some of the cutest prints I’ve seen. I always use removable wallpaper incase I want to easily switch up the design at a later time. If you missed last week’s update, you can read about it here!

One important tip when installing removable wallpaper is to always do a coat of glossy primer on the wall prior to installing. I waited 24 hours after the primer before installing the walllpaper. The gloss allows the wallpaper to be removed from the wall without ripping off any of the paint or drywall. When installing, you typically always have to lift up the wallpaper to re-line it up or even/smooth it out- having this gloss on the wall lets you easily do that without damaging the wall. I highly recommend to not skip this step.

Another important tip when installing- always place the first piece of wallpaper about 1cm past where you need it. For example, make the first piece go a little onto the ceiling and onto the wall next to it. This way, if the ceiling or wall isn’t completely straight, you have a little wiggle room.

The first wallpaper I used was this adorable Giraffe print! I saw this on Livette’s website and knew I had to have it! Wallpaper can do so much for a room. It really brought this space to life.

The next step in the playroom is the closet! The closet already had a built in shelf with rod, but I wanted to add a fun wallpaper to the back wall, and install an IKEA Aurdal closet system that would allow for more storage. First thing I had to do was remove the existing built in shelf. This was surprisingly easier than I thought it would be. It took about an hour overall to knock it down. Again- don’t forget the glossy primer before installing the wallpaper!

How cute is this Herringbone in sage green wallpaper! It is going to be the perfect background against the Aurdal closet system! Check back next week for the closet reveal!
