Our Backyard Furniture Refresh! | 3 Easy Outdoor Styling Tips

Lifestyle

Before I was a mom, I had specific moments I’d always dreamed of sharing with my future babies. Beck is growing faster than my heart is ready for, but the plus side is that all of the sweet memories I’ve been looking forward to for years are finally here! One of these visions was my boy playing in our backyard and I have been so excited to get it all ready for him.

Our backyard furniture refresh is done and ready for summer!

From family dinners outside, to watching him hit the ball off his tee (with some help!), summer with him is going to be the BEST! Here are some of his current favorites:

I dedicated an afternoon this week to putting the final touches on our backyard and the outcome is a dream come true! This is our last summer in this house so using what I already had, I refreshed this space so it’s ready for use now that the weather is warm.

How To Style Your Backyard Furniture (On Any Budget!)

Clean your furniture
Backyard furniture tends to get dusty and a bit dirty over time if they aren’t kept covered. Don’t wait until you have guests at your front door to wipe down your furniture and tables. I like to use a microfiber cloth and warm water to remove as much as I can. For any covers that are washable, I make sure they go through the laundry so they are like new!

When our furniture is not in use, I do my best to keep them covered with these handy furniture covers. They save so much cleaning time!

Add a new rug, pillow set, or umbrella
Outdoor furniture can be so pricey! Even though it is well worth the cost, if you’re like me, it’s easy to get the itch to switch things up! Instead of switching out the entire set, try accessorizing your space with new pillows or a new rug. For our backyard, I’m accessorizing with this black and white umbrella that I’m just in love with! These items tend to not last more than a few seasons anyway, so there is little guilt about changing them out as your taste evolves.

Lights are a must!
To create a cozy, magical ambiance, don’t skip the string lights! At night, these light up our whole backyard and make me feel like I’m on vacation. I love them so much because it’s such an inexpensive way to make your space feel luxurious. Definitely going to have some in our next yard as well.

I’m also linking our outdoor sconces! Even with our string lights, having the added lighting from the sconces is really helpful.

As much as we love this yard, I can’t wait to show you what we have in store for our next home! If you’re interested in following along on our build process, keep your eyes here on the blog as well as Instagram. I’m sharing as much behind the scenes as possible as we make our dream home a reality.

I hope this was helpful as summer quickly approaches across the country. Do you have any plans this summer? I’d love to hear about them!
